Government drops wildfire preparedness plan
The UK government has concealed plans to prepare England for wildfires, despite evidence that fire services lack adequate protective gear and the country faced record-breaking wildfires this summer. A wildfire risk programme, announced in 2023, was never implemented, raising concerns about insufficient land management and preparedness efforts. Experts and campaigners criticize the government for neglecting wildfire resilience and proper training, advocating for improved land restoration and resource allocation.
