Green party faces backlash over Zionism vote

The Green Party of England and Wales adopted a policy declaring Zionism a form of racism, sparking international criticism from the European Green party and Germany’s Greens, who called it “intolerable and unacceptable.” The motion, supported by a small minority of party members, advocates for treating Zionism as racism and supporting a single democratic Palestinian state, contradicting broader European Green positions that support a two-state solution. The decision led to protests from European Greens, some members resigning, and debates over the party’s decision-making structure. Green leader Zack Polanski emphasized that criticism of Israel should be separate from antisemitism, and ongoing discussions about party governance continue amid the controversy.
