Jackdaw North Sea gasfield approved

The UK is set to approve the Jackdaw gasfield, one of the largest undeveloped fields in the North Sea, signaling continued support for fossil fuel extraction despite climate concerns. Approval is expected to be announced by government officials, with the project providing about 2% of the country's gas demand over ten years and accounting for 6% of North Sea gas production. Climate campaigners oppose the decision, arguing it undermines the UK's climate commitments and highlights a conflict between energy industry interests and environmental goals.
