AI forecasts breast cancer return years early

A US study has shown that a new artificial intelligence test can predict the risk of early breast cancer recurrence more accurately, especially after more than five years since diagnosis, compared to traditional genetic tests. The study relies on the "IICM+" model, which analyzes tumor tissue images along with clinical and molecular data from 4,429 patients over more than 11 years, to assess the likelihood of early and late disease recurrence. The results demonstrated that the model clearly outperforms current genetic tests in distinguishing between different levels of recurrence risk. However, researchers emphasized that further studies are needed to confirm its effectiveness in guiding treatment decisions and improving patient outcomes.
