Total Energies Pact Advances LNG Talks

The Ministry of Electricity confirmed that the principles agreed upon with the French company Total Energies pave the way for negotiations and directives regarding the liquefied gas processing and its conversion into natural gas through a national pipeline network, in support of the operation of electricity generation plants. Minister Ali Saadi Haib signed in Paris, under the auspices of the Prime Minister, on the principles of the agreement, which aim to diversify fuel sources and improve energy supplies by deploying an offshore platform at the Basra ports and converting liquefied gas back into gas via the pipeline network. This effort contributes to increasing the hours of stable and reliable electricity supply in Iraq.
