The General Company for Steel Industries begins new production phase

The Ministry of Industry and Minerals announced successes in developing the second phase of an industrial project aimed at boosting local rebar production, with the goal of meeting market demand and reducing reliance on imports. The project aims to produce rebar in various sizes, with an annual capacity of up to 400,000 tons, in addition to 200,000 tons of industrial iron, to strengthen the national industry and support the local industrial sector. The first phase of the project involved the continuous casting process, which was completed in May 2024, currently producing 600,000 tons annually of billet as a raw material for rebar production. This will contribute to revitalizing the production chain and improving the iron and steel sector in the country.
