Yemen escalation with Riyadh and Aden attacks
The Houthi Ansar Allah group launched attacks on Riyadh and Aden airports, representing a significant escalation in the Yemen conflict. The group targeted King Khalid Airport in Riyadh with missiles and drones, leading to a temporary halt in air traffic. Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition announced that it intercepted and destroyed a missile launched by the Houthis toward the city. In Aden, the airport was hit by two missiles, with no injuries reported; a plane was canceled from landing, and another was rerouted. Additionally, there was an attack on Saudi military supplies near Aden airport, resulting in the death and injury of several Saudi officers. These attacks come amid widespread military escalation on multiple Yemeni fronts, with ongoing clashes near Bab el-Mandeb Strait and advances by government forces, while the Houthis deny losing any territories. The rising hostilities threaten international trade routes and regional stability, as fighting intensifies between Yemeni forces and the Houthis.
