Women’s Union Urges Support for Ma'ilat Firms
The article highlights the continued rise in the dollar exchange rate and its catastrophic impact on the living conditions in Iraq. The decline in the national currency's value has led to a deterioration in the purchasing power of vulnerable and middle-income groups, with direct effects on basic goods, medicines, rents, and transportation. Women bear the brunt of the economic crisis, due to their responsibilities in managing households and securing needs. The association called on the government to take immediate measures, including improving market oversight, reviewing wages, supporting the prices of medicines, regulating rents, and expanding the social safety net to enable breadwinner women and affected families to access sustainable financial support. It is also essential to adopt fair economic policies to address the deteriorating living conditions caused by the rising dollar.
