Ship sinks after drone attack Syria seeks sailor updates

Syria has requested the International Maritime Organization and Bulgarian authorities to conduct an independent investigation into the sinking of a cargo ship in the Black Sea after it was attacked by a drone, which resulted in the disappearance of nine Syrian sailors out of ten crew members. The ship, "Alpha Watan," was attacked while within Bulgaria's exclusive economic zone, with the responsible party yet to be identified. Bulgarian authorities suspended the search efforts after finding no traces of the sailors, but Syria urges that the case remains open and that all means be exhausted to determine the cause of the sinking and hold those responsible accountable. This incident occurs in the context of increasing attacks on maritime vessels in the Black Sea amid the Russian-Ukrainian war, with mutual accusations intensifying over responsibility for these attacks.
