Winter crops added to Iraq plan after 60 years

The Ministry of Agriculture announced the inclusion of new crops in the upcoming winter plan, among them barley and yellow corn, with the cultivated area increasing to over 7 million dunams. The cultivation of soybean has also been expanded after nearly 60 years of absence in Basra. Soybean farming was developed using modern agricultural methods such as conservation agriculture and fertilization programs based on scientific research. This has contributed to expanding soybean cultivation to five locations across Basra, Wasit, Anbar, Kirkuk, and Diyala provinces, with the aim of diversifying crops and improving agricultural production.
