Iraq imports 600MW from Turkey

The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity announced the import of approximately 600 megawatts of electrical power daily through the connection with Turkey, and plans to increase this capacity to around 2,000 megawatts in the second phase of the project. The import was increased by 300 megawatts at the ministry's request, and the project aims to bolster electricity production and support the national grid without replacing the need for building new power plants. Additionally, Iraq has completed about 98% of its interconnection with Gulf countries (a project with a capacity of 500 megawatts), while connections with Jordan and Saudi Arabia are underway. There are plans to raise the overall capacity and improve electricity supply across the country.
