Paris Declares Emergency and Curfew
The French government has announced its intention to impose a partial curfew in several cities starting from tonight, as a measure to contain the violent protests that have taken place in the country recently. This decision came after a government crisis meeting, during which Prime Minister Sebastian Lacorne suggested that declaring a state of emergency remains an option if needed, but ruled out the possibility of a comprehensive curfew for Paris. Widespread protests have erupted over rising living costs and deteriorating services, resulting in approximately 2,400 arrests and around a thousand security personnel injured, while scheduled sporting events are still proceeding. The government continues its efforts to contain the crisis, focusing on restoring order and achieving transparency.
