Green Iraq Observatory warns of Baghdad Forest loss

The Green Iraq Observatory warned of the risk of the extinction of the Baghdad Forest Project, which aims to improve the environment and reduce pollution in the capital, being transformed into an investment project that deviates from its environmental purpose. It explained that the site at Al-Rashid Camp offers an opportunity to establish forests that enhance vegetation cover and reduce pollution in areas such as Zawra'aniya, but it is threatened by the potential conversion of the area into other investment projects. Environmental initiatives aimed at improving the climate and reducing pollution are facing setbacks due to urban expansion and investments, which threaten the achievement of the capital's environmental goals.
