Challenges in implementing experimental zones

The article addresses the challenges of implementing "Experimental Zones" in South Lebanon, which aim to remove armed presence and weapons from areas occupied by Israel, and to restore control to the Lebanese state. The challenges include legal and security issues related to dealing with members of "Hezbollah" and residents owning homes within these areas, as well as mechanisms to verify that the area is weapon-free. Additionally, managing returns, inspecting private properties, and dealing with the complexities surrounding the fate of military sites and infrastructure still under Israeli control are significant obstacles. Analysts skeptically question the effectiveness of this initiative in the absence of effective guarantees against the return of weapons or obstruction of implementation by Israel or Hezbollah. The success of this step heavily depends on a clear political will to ensure its success and the resumption of state control over the occupied areas.
