Scientists have discovered for the first time evidence of a massive binary star system in which two stars exploded in quick, closely spaced events over a period ranging from 20,000 to 110,000 years. These explosions left behind glowing gas clouds known as nebulae. One of these is the well-known Jellyfish Nebula, resulting from the explosion of a star with a mass exceeding 15 to 25 times that of the Sun.
