Salam leads delegation to Baghdad on oil pipeline

The Lebanese government, headed by Naufal Salaam, will discuss with its Iraqi counterpart in Baghdad next Sunday the implementation of the Iraqi-Syrian-Lebanese oil pipeline project, which connects Kirkuk to Baniyas and extends to Al-Buqei'ah in Lebanon. The project aims to transport two million barrels of oil daily, following agreements between Iraq and Syria to carry it out. It is part of a strategy to export 2.5 million barrels per day through Syria, Turkey, and Jordan. The project holds strategic significance for Lebanon, as it will provide the country with a land route and generate financial revenues estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars annually, in addition to creating employment opportunities for more than two thousand people. Furthermore, Lebanese-American coordination has played a key role in activating this initiative, amid Iraq’s efforts to diversify its oil export routes in the face of regional tensions.
