Energy Ministry releases July 2026 generator schedule

The Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water has issued a new tariff for private generators for July 2026. The price per kilowatt-hour has been set at 40,746 LBP for subscribers in cities and settlements at altitudes below 700 meters, and 44,821 LBP for remote areas or regions at altitudes above 700 meters. The tariff includes a fixed cost along with a variable component based on the meter’s capacity, with an additional 300,000 LBP for each extra 5 amps. The pricing is based on an average cost of fuel oil (mazut) amounting to 1,992,150 LBP in July, considering distribution costs and a profit margin. The ministry called on generator owners to adhere to these prices and not to impose any unlawful additional fees. The tariff has been sent to the relevant authorities for follow-up on implementation. It was also emphasized that installing meters is a necessary step to regulate pricing, and the ministry rejected any illegal additions to the rates, such as VAT taxes, maintenance fees, or charges for solar energy, with strict oversight to prevent violations.
