Communications Minister Aims for Wide Internet Access
Lebanese Minister of Communications, Charlie Hajj, clarified that Lebanon's strategic goal is to expand high-speed Internet access to as many citizens as possible. This will be achieved through an expansion plan for the fiber optic network, which will reach around 350,000 homes in the initial phase. The objective is to increase broadband subscriptions from approximately 50,000 currently to 500,000 within three years. He also highlighted the importance of implementing Law 431 to empower the telecommunications regulatory authority to carry out reforms, despite the challenges posed by the current economic and security situation.
