The city of Tyre in Lebanon has regained its unity and activity after the diaspora caused by the war. More than 90% of its approximately 60,000 residents have returned, and the movement of markets, restaurants, and cultural institutions has increased, amid expectations of a strong tourist season. However, the city still faces challenges resulting from the conflict, as around 2,700 displaced people continue to live in 10 shelter centers out of 13. Efforts are underway to gather displaced individuals into fewer centers in preparation for restoring normal school operations with the start of the new academic year, in addition to repairing the destroyed buildings—27 structures have been damaged, and about 800 residential and commercial units have been affected. Tyre also experienced a rapid return of tourism in the summer, with a dense influx of both local and foreign visitors, despite the continued effects of the war in some neighborhoods.
