Russia-Ukraine prisoner swap

Russia announced the recovery of ten of its soldiers in a limited exchange with Ukraine, in exchange for the return of ten Ukrainian prisoners to their homeland. This took place after Kyiv handed over Russian detainees in exchange for the release of ten Ukrainians whom authorities considered missing. This exchange is part of rare efforts at cooperation between the two sides since the war began in February 2022. Estimates indicate that more than 15,000 civilians and 7,000 Ukrainian soldiers are being held in Russia, while 26 mediation efforts by the UAE have resulted in the exchange of 7,999 prisoners to date.
