Prisoner death in Zahle jail and annual prison fatalities

A detainee in Zahle Prison passed away at the age of approximately 70 after five years of detention without a verdict, due to health complications experienced inside the prison. Since the beginning of the year, the Families of Prisoners Committee reported that the number of deaths in Lebanese prisons has reached 71 cases, amid worsening health conditions and limited efforts to address the crisis.
