Al-Khatib: Iran and Iraq ready to assist Lebanon

Vice President of the Islamic Supreme Council of Shia, Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, has returned to Beirut after an eleven-day visit to Iran and Iraq. During his trip, he participated in the 40th International Conference on Islamic Unity in Tehran and Mashhad. Throughout the visit, he met with several political and religious officials, including the Iraqi Prime Minister and the Iranian Foreign Minister. Al-Khatib emphasized that the visit was positive and demonstrated the willingness of Iranian and Iraqi officials to assist in supporting Lebanon, especially in facing the ongoing Israeli aggression in the south. He called for political, economic, and social intervention to halt the aggression and enable our people to return to their cities. He also urged for the restoration of diplomatic relations between Lebanon and Iran, including the resumption of direct air traffic, expressing hope that these efforts would translate into reality to alleviate the suffering of the Lebanese people.
