A study conducted by the University of São Paulo showed that increasing daily steps helps individuals with moderate to severe asthma effectively control their condition, comparable to structured aerobic exercises. The study involved 52 patients aged between 18 and 65 years who had uncontrolled asthma and low physical activity levels. It found that both interventions—walking more and training on a treadmill—led to improved asthma control, reduced symptoms, as well as decreased anxiety and depression, alongside enhanced quality of life. The researchers emphasized that increasing walking can be a simple and effective alternative to treatment and should be used in conjunction with medication, not as a replacement.
