Iran announced that it will hold talks with Gulf countries in Oman next Monday to discuss the Gulf of Hormuz Crisis, which Tehran has closed in response to the war launched by the United States and Israel, following American and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28. Iran's response was to block the strait, through which approximately 20% of the world's oil passes. These talks are an attempt to enhance mutual understanding among the regional countries and regional security. The two sides have been discussing for weeks how to manage the future of the strait, amid Iran's continued imposition of conditions on vessel transit, as well as military escalation and political tensions following the closure of the strait. This closure has led to oil prices rising by more than $100 per barrel.
