Erdogan Plans New Presidential Bid

A senior advisor to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has indicated that the Turkish President intends to run for a new presidential term in a possible early election expected to be held in April 2028, instead of the constitutional date in May of the same year. The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and its nationalist ally need the support of 34 deputies out of a total of 600 to pass the call for early elections, as they currently control 326 seats.
