EU's 505M euro aid to Lebanon approved

Diplomatic sources confirmed that the European funding package of 505 million euros, approved by the European Union for Lebanon, is not entirely new. Instead, it is the second installment of a package announced by Commissioner von der Leyen during her visit to Beirut in May 2024. The package covers the period from 2024 to 2027. The new tranche will be allocated for the years 2026 and 2027, and will support essential services such as education, health, social protection, water, economic reforms, as well as assistance to the security sector, border management, and aid to areas affected by conflicts.
