FBI Deputy Director Resigns after One Year

The resignation of Andrew Paley, the Deputy Director of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), after just one year in the role, comes amid widespread leadership changes within the agency during Kash Patel's administration. Paley announced that he decided to leave to spend more time with his family in Missouri, amid a decline in leadership stability following a series of dismissals and personnel shifts, particularly given his political background and support for claims of election fraud in 2020. He had been appointed as a co-deputy alongside a former FBI official, but his resignation reflects a wave of dismissals and transfers of Trump-allied officials, with a focus on restoring public trust in the agency to combat violent crimes and ensure the accountability sought.
