Syria Power Plants Halted After Gas Line Explosion

The Syrian Electricity Company announced that three power plants in Syria—Deir Ali, Nahriyah, and Tishreen—have gone offline due to an explosion on the gas line at the Tishreen station, which caused a halt in the gas supply necessary for operation. The fire resulting from the explosion is ongoing, and emergency teams are working to contain it. As a result, there will be a temporary decrease in electricity production and an increase in power outages due to the shortage in generation capacity. The company will later provide updates regarding the status of the plants and the electrical supply.
