Lebanon Debates Budget and Gas Costs
The Lebanese government is holding a Cabinet session at the Grand Serail to discuss important livelihood and economic issues. The agenda is led by the discussion of the 2027 budget draft, focusing on revenues, expenditures, and how well they meet citizens' needs. Additionally, there will be a discussion on adjusting the transportation allowance, which requires a government decision, although the proposed amount has not yet been specified. The session will also review a project to convert liquefied natural gas into natural gas through a floating unit in the Dier Ambar area, aiming to improve electricity production costs and diversify energy sources. However, the implementation raises questions regarding funding and partnerships. Furthermore, the council will discuss establishing the Higher Council for Special Economic Zones, as well as a dispute over the financial contribution for the waste management project. Other administrative and financial files will be reviewed in an effort to turn livelihood-related issues into concrete decisions.
