Yemen Rights Group Calls Saada Actions War Crimes

The National Human Rights Committee in Yemen has directly accused the Saudi regime of committing war crimes in Saada, due to its ongoing deliberate targeting of civilian areas and populations in border regions. Saudi aircraft conducted strikes on communication networks in the districts of Monabeh, Al Salem, and Al-Sufaila, leading to their destruction and rendering them inoperable, as well as isolating villages, schools, and health centers. The Committee affirmed that targeting civilian infrastructure constitutes a war crime under the Geneva Conventions, and that these actions also amount to crimes against humanity and a policy of collective punishment. It called on the international community to conduct an independent investigation into these crimes. Additionally, the Committee condemned the collusion of major powers that supply arms to Saudi Arabia, and the international silence that has encouraged the repetition of such atrocities.
