Washington Urges Lebanon to Disarm Weapons

The article focused on the American approach regarding Hezbollah's weapons in Lebanon, where U.S. officials emphasized that disarming the party, stopping smuggling, and achieving stability in the south first require Lebanon to implement the framework agreement with Israel. They reiterated that the deployment of the Lebanese army alone is insufficient and that progress on disarming Hezbollah and ensuring that this responsibility is solely in the hands of the state is the primary condition for Israel's withdrawal from Lebanese territories. The United States is urging Lebanon to take tangible steps toward entering a phase of regional liberation, while continuing to pressure Israel to take good-faith initiatives. Meanwhile, Lebanon faces the choice of either starting the process of disarming Hezbollah or waiting without any significant change happening.
