Qaqour Questions Aoun Over Reforms

The article focused on Deputy Halima Qa'qour's criticism of President Joseph Aoun regarding the lack of support for the necessary reforms in the Lebanese banking sector. She questioned him about why he is undermining the essential reforms for banks and obstructing the amendment of the Currency and Credit Law, which needs to be revised to ensure the independence of the Higher Banking Authority. This authority is considered vital for dealing with distressed banks in accordance with international standards. She also condemned his continued support for the financial advisor linked to the banking lobby, which hampers the adoption of objective decisions that could contribute to reforming the financial sector and prevent banks from manipulating funds and squandering depositors' and public money.
