Over 40 Wheat Trucks Stalled at Factory

The head of the Lebanese Farmers Union announced that more than 40 trucks loaded with wheat have been detained within the customs yard at the factory since Monday, despite having obtained export permits to Jordan. The delay in issuing final permits by the Ministry of Economy has caused a disruption in sales and export operations. These procedures are leading to a buildup of large quantities of wheat, threatening cereal farmers and hindering the sale of their produce, especially given the current harvest season and stagnant market conditions. The situation confirms that canceling or delaying wheat exports poses a threat to Lebanese farmers' livelihoods and results in economic losses, while the trucks remain detained despite holding the necessary authorizations. This has sparked frustration among farmers and the agricultural sector as a whole.
