Lebanon Debate: Conditional Opening and Government Review

The solid waste landfill crisis in Akkar is heading toward a conditional relief after days of closure and escalation. It was announced that the road will be reopened to waste trucks from Akkar starting Saturday morning, following a commitment from the Prime Minister to expedite the operation of the sorting plant and the sanitary landfill, as well as to address the conditions of the affected villages. The municipalities confirmed that waste collection will be limited to the Akkar region only, and that the continuation of the road opening depends on the government's fulfillment of its commitments regarding operation and treatment, while maintaining the condition that waste from outside the area will not be accepted again.
