Kyiv bridge hit during Chancellor's visit

One of Kyiv's vital bridges, the northern "Peivnichny" bridge over the Dnipro River, was targeted by a drone strike and a guided Russian cruise missile. The attack caused damage to the surface and disrupted tram and transportation services between the city's banks. This assault comes amid escalating the Russian-Ukrainian war and ongoing attacks on infrastructure, coinciding with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s visit to the city, during which new aid packages for Ukraine are expected to be announced, including 1.35 billion euros to support military efforts and the energy sector. Russia continues to warn foreigners in Kyiv to leave the city as it maintains its strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure.
