Pride prompts Lebanese to insult peers

Archbishop Elias Oueida affirmed that Christian love goes beyond superficial principles and is based on God's love for us. He explained that true giving comes from a free heart and must be without self-interest. Mercy requires allowing others' pain to touch our hearts and translating that compassion into acts of love. He emphasized that pride is one of the causes of harm and division among Lebanese people. He also confirmed that loving one's enemies does not mean colluding with evil, but rather protecting oneself by rejecting injustice and not allowing hatred to take over. He called for efforts to sow peace and mercy in the lives of others, highlighting the importance of humility and loving interactions to achieve spiritual salvation. He affirmed that giving from the heart is a means of freeing oneself from selfishness and greed.
