Hani: Ongoing apple export plan

The Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture has announced a plan to export 100,000 tons of apples in the 2026 season, in collaboration with the private sector and international partners, with the aim of enhancing the competitiveness of Lebanese products in the market and reducing shipping costs. The plan includes expanding foreign markets through the activation of economic diplomacy, increasing demand in countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, and improving logistics infrastructure by partnering with CMA CGM to lower shipping expenses. Additionally, the plan features a national campaign to encourage the consumption of locally produced apples and stimulate the domestic market, along with support for farmers through quality improvements, processing enhancements, and reduced import fees to protect the national product.
