Washington removes B-1 bombers from Britain

The United States has decided to withdraw all of its B-1 bombers from Fairford Air Force Base in the UK due to security concerns over potential terrorist plots against the facility. The base had previously been used as a site for launching strikes against Iran and housed 12 B-1 aircraft. This decision comes after the arrest of six suspects linked to an attempted attack on the base, with American and British officials indicating involvement by Iran and a branch of the Revolutionary Guard in the planning, which aimed to destroy the aircraft and cause damage to the facility. The U.S. Department of Defense confirms that the bombers have been redeployed to the United States, while maintaining the capability to carry out global strikes from within the continental U.S.
