Israel commemorates third anniversary of October 7

Today, Israel commemorates the third anniversary of the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the death of 1,221 people and the kidnapping of 251 others. This event coincides with upcoming legislative elections and a heightened security tension. Official and popular events have been organized to honor the victims, including a moment of silence at sites where deaths and abductions occurred, as well as the participation of prominent politicians like Naftali Bennett. This comes amid heightened security alertness following increased threats, with the Israeli army reinforcing vigilance after a large-scale assault on Gaza, which has caused more than 74,000 casualties according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
