Russia denies epidemic threat after Siberian plague death

Russian authorities have confirmed that there is no "epidemic risk" in Siberia following the death of an employee at a plague research institute in Irkutsk, challenging reports that attributed her death to the disease. They indicated that more than 90% of those who had been in contact with the woman underwent medical monitoring, which concluded without any health issues, and no cases related to infectious disease have been recorded. They clarified that the employee had been vaccinated and possessed immunity against infection. Additionally, experts have not detected any emergency situations involving the microorganisms responsible for plague, which can take various forms such as pneumonic and bubonic plague. The message primarily emphasizes the absence of a "pandemic" risk and aims to reassure the public about the health situation in the region.
