CAF Changes African Cup Format

Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), announced that the union is considering reformatting the Africa Cup of Nations, including the possibility of holding it every two years instead of every four. This announcement was made during a strategic conference in Cape Verde, where he confirmed that the previous decision to switch the tournament to a four-year cycle starting from 2028 was a response to external pressures. However, he stated that all options are now being discussed to ensure Africa's best interests. The union was not influenced by pressure from FIFA or UEFA, and Motsepe emphasized that his primary mission is to protect and promote the interests of the African continent. He also affirmed that he will fight to defend this decision.
