IRGC targets Gulf oil tanker
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy announced that they targeted the liquefied petroleum gas carrier "N V Sunshine" in the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in a large fire in the engine room and propulsion system. This Iranian escalation came in response to the vessel's illegal passage, with Iran aiming to assert its sovereignty over the strait and prevent U.S. military presence there. The Revolutionary Guard also warned that they may expand their pursuit operations to other areas, threatening the continued movement of shipping through this vital corridor that connects global oil and natural gas supplies. This development occurs amid rising tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel in the region.
