Qali'at airport to open as planned

The article discusses the preparations for the resumption of operations at President René Moawad Airport in Qlayaat, which is scheduled to reopen in November despite technical, administrative, and financial obstacles hindering this process. Prime Minister Nawar Slaiman emphasized his commitment to the October 15 opening date, despite concerns expressed by officials regarding the airport's readiness and security arrangements. It is noted that the project has become a subject of political debate; while viewed as a developmental step to boost the northern economy, it also carries implications related to political calculations and high costs, as well as legal and technical challenges involved in transferring ownership of the airport from the military to civilian use and in providing the necessary equipment to ensure safety and security.
