Moscow Responds to Trump's Zelensky Call
The article focused on U.S. President Donald Trump's call for a leadership change in Ukraine, where he suggested selecting a new Ukrainian president instead of Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump argued that Ukraine needs leadership focused on peace rather than continuing a policy of war. He criticized Zelensky's efforts to reach an agreement with Russia to end the conflict and also condemned Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil facilities, urging Zelensky to stop such assaults. Additionally, Trump mentioned his agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin to increase Russian diesel supplies to global markets, which drew criticism from Kyiv. The agreement includes a temporary suspension of sanctions on the Russian diesel sector until April 2027, in exchange for immediate diesel shipments exceeding 300,000 tons, with another 500,000 tons scheduled for November. These developments highlight differing stances between Washington and Ukraine regarding how to deal with Moscow and the conditions for ending the war, while Moscow publicly welcomed Trump’s call.
