Benma Field Hospital Prepares for Aftershocks

Panama was struck by a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6, leading to widespread property damage and the closure of the capital's airport. Authorities were compelled to set up a field hospital and treat patients outdoors out of fear of potential aftershocks. The earthquake's epicenter was located 10 kilometers from Pitaloza Aira in Herera Province. Reported injuries exceeded 27 people, and many homes were damaged, especially in the town of Macaracas, which was severely affected, forcing residents to seek safe shelter. The earthquake was rare in the region, heightening concerns about its recurrence and impact on the population.
