Karami: Success Seen in Safe Classrooms

The article discusses Lebanon's efforts to recover education after the damages caused by the war. Education Minister Rima Karamy emphasized that success is measured by the number of children returning to safe schools, not just by the number of schools reopened. The ministry outlined its plan to address the educational gaps created by the conflict, noting that 436 educational facilities were damaged and that about 100,000 students were unable to return to school. She stressed that rehabilitation must coincide with the safe reopening of schools to ensure the continuity of learning. The focus is on the Vision 2040 plan to transform the education system, assess the war's impact on education, and promote social cohesion and student well-being. She called for viewing the success of the educational sector not by the number of schools, but by the number of children learning in a safe environment and returning to their classes.
