US reviews complaint against Lebanese ambassador

The article discusses a legal complaint filed against Lebanon's ambassador to the United States, Nada Hamadeh Mouawad, who faces potential referral to the Lebanese military judiciary following reports of an alleged communication with Israeli Ambassador Yigal Laizer in Washington. The purpose of the contact was reportedly to seek his support after the ambassador’s son was injured. The United States rejects such prosecutorial action, considering it unacceptable to pursue diplomats for executing their governments' policies. The U.S. advocates focusing legal efforts on Hezbollah members and countering sectarian and political policies in Lebanon, while warning against political targeting of civilians and diplomats. No official charges have been filed yet; the legal proceedings are still in the stage of referral to military justice, with assurances that this step does not mean an investigation or trial against the ambassador has been definitively opened.
