Energy Ministry Clarifies Resignation Causes
A statement was issued by the Minister of Energy and Water, Jouhouse Sadi, in response to a report by the newspaper "Al-Akhbar," which claimed that his abstention was solely due to overdue payments by ministries and public institutions. He affirmed that the reasons behind this are multiple and include the adoption of a variable electricity tariff, the state's payments for relief efforts in the south, and repairs in southern areas. He clarified that the minister refused to accumulate debts on Lebanon to secure electricity hours, as such debts have cost the country billions of dollars and contributed to the financial collapse. He also rejected the continuation of debts exceeding 1.215 billion dollars. He confirmed that the Iraqi side has halted fuel oil supply to the Ministry of Energy due to violations in shipments, and stated that the government is responsible for addressing the underlying reasons for the abstention. He emphasized that the manipulations by "Al-Akhbar" will not change the truth.
