Al-Zaidi government faces tough times
The article addresses the challenges faced by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi five months after taking office. He is suffering from a severe financial crisis that has accumulated due to debts exceeding $136 billion, and his decision to devalue the Iraqi dinar in order to fund salaries and cope with declining revenues resulting from the Strait of Hormuz crisis. This has led to widespread public discontent due to the pressure of rising prices, and amid uncertainty about the parties' participation in decision-making. Al-Zaydi faces significant risks, including the possibility of resignation if the financial crisis persists without fundamental solutions, which could threaten the stability of his government.
