Milan unrests leave dozens injured

Events of rioting and looting took place in the Italian city of Milan during protests against the high cost of living. The clashes resulted in at least four security personnel being injured and around 50 individuals, including minors, being arrested. The demonstrations began peacefully but escalated into violent confrontations with police, who used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protesters. Shops and building facades were vandalized, and police vehicles sustained damage. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned the violence, stating that the right to protest is guaranteed but attacking cities is unacceptable. The government called on opposition parties to condemn the violence. The unrest spread to other cities such as Bologna and Turin, coinciding with protests in France against rising costs, which led to approximately 1,200 arrests and 150 police officers injured.
